Joinue is currently a guy and his dog, building the app that gets people together in real life. Your work here ships the week you write it, to people who actually use it. One way in is paid, one is volunteer, and I say which is which.

Developer Intern

Work directly with me to ship real features on an early product that real people use.

What you'll do

Support early-stage product development across the app
Build features with React, Supabase, and modern web tooling
Work closely with me, since there is nobody else to work with

What I'm looking for

A basic grasp of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Some exposure to React or a similar framework
Eagerness to learn PostgreSQL and backend services
Strong attention to detail and clear communication

Contributors are the other half of how this gets built, and calling it a career would be a stretch. There’s no pay and no title. What it buys is the thing the app runs on: a catalog put together by people who actually go out, rather than one bought from a data broker. That’s a big part of why Joinue is free to use, with no ads and no ad trackers.

Joinue opens a metro once there's enough there to explore. Getting there is local knowledge, not a database I can buy. If you know where your city actually goes, you can build it out and I'll open it.

Add the bars, venues, and rooms your city actually goes to
Keep the recurring nights current: trivia Tuesday, the open mic, the monthly market
Nothing you add goes live unreviewed, so a mistake never lands on you

The honest part

There's no pay, no stipend, and no title. This is volunteer work.
There's no shift and no minimum. You can stop any time.
Say yes and your metro's map opens for you right then.
