I'm Marc, and that's Indy. Joinue started as a selfish little wish years ago in Boston: one list of every comedy open mic in town, so I could reliably go bomb for five minutes on any given night. No such list existed. Your best shot was tracking down the one community elder with a handwritten one. Not ideal.
Then in 2022 my wife, our dog Indy, and I moved to Tucson, and the same problem followed us everywhere. Trivia, karaoke, live music, all of it scattered across a dozen sites, half of them out of date. Making plans with new friends shouldn't take a research project. Indy just wanted to sing "Who Let the Dogs Out" somewhere nearby.
Worth noting, I'd also spent years in social media analytics before moving to Tucson. I was just on the sales side, but it gave me a look at one slice of the business: brands mining public social posts to figure out what people wanted. Admittedly, part of me thought it was cool (when done right) that brands cared enough to dig into this type of data. However, it made me acutely aware that these free platforms were quietly profiling people to sell to advertisers. The users got nothing back except a product that kept getting worse.
So I built something different. Joinue helps you find something to do and get your people there. If you ever feel like the product and not the customer, then I'm doing something wrong. That's the whole idea. Indy supervised the entire build, contributed nothing, and remains very proud.
